The present ČSOB Pojišťovna was established on January 1, 2003 by means of a sale of enterprise between IPB The insurance company, a.s. and ČSOB Pojišťovna. Today, ČSOB Pojišťovna is a universal insurance company that offers a wide portfolio of life as well as non-life insurance for natural and legal entities alike.
History of ČSOB Pojišťovna
ČSOB Pojišťovna, a.s. was incorporated in 1994 under the name Chmelařská vzájemná pojišťovna. In 1998, two years after its entry in the market, strategic partner - KBC Insurance N.V. - joined the company and became its 100% owner in 2001. In relation to that, Chmelařská pojišťovna changed its name to ČSOB Pojišťovna.
History of IPB The insurance company
In 1992, the then-Investiční banka, a.s. founded the insurance company named Pojišťovna IB, a.s., which became one of the first domestic insurance companies to enter the market after de-monopolisation of Czech insurance industry. Later, the company transformed into IPB pojišťovna, a.s.
